From August 2017 to November 2018, I was employed at Subway, where I developed strong customer service and communication skills. I made the decision to leave my role to focus on my pregnancy and prepare for the next stage of my life.

I began working at Dunkin’ Donuts in 2021 on the overnight shift, where I developed strong time management, reliability, and customer service skills in a fast-paced environment. I remained in this role until December 2025, when I chose to leave due to my second pregnancy and to pursue a new path by enrolling in college.

These were the skills that I gained during my shift at Subway. As my first job at 17, it me realize a lot of many experiences. Such as;

Customer Service Skills

Working at Subway helped me improve how I interact with customers by greeting them politely, taking orders accurately, and making sure they were satisfied with their food. I learned how to stay patient and professional, even when customers were in a rush or had special requests.

Communication Skills

I became better at clearly communicating with customers and coworkers. I learned how to ask the right questions to make sure orders were correct and how to listen carefully to avoid mistakes.

Teamwork

I worked closely with my coworkers to keep the line moving efficiently. I learned how important it is to support each other during busy times and share responsibilities to get tasks done quickly.

Time Management and Speed

Subway taught me how to work fast while still paying attention to detail. I learned how to manage multiple tasks at once, such as preparing sandwiches, handling the register, and keeping the workspace clean.

Responsibility and Work Ethic

I developed a strong sense of responsibility by showing up on time, following procedures, and making sure food safety standards were met. I also learned how important it is to stay focused throughout the shift.

Problem-Solving Skills

I gained experience handling small issues on the spot, such as fixing incorrect orders or dealing with customer concerns in a calm and professional way.

Working at Dunkin’ was one of the most valuable experiences I’ve had because it helped me build important skills through real, everyday situations. Some of my best moments were during busy overnight rushes when the drive-thru store was packed with customers and I had to stay focused, move quickly, and still make sure orders were correct. Those fast-paced times taught me how to manage stress, think quickly, and stay organized under pressure.

I also had positive experiences working closely with my coworkers to keep everything running smoothly. We had to communicate constantly, help each other when things got overwhelming, and work as a team to keep lines moving. These moments helped me understand the importance of teamwork and clear communication.

Another meaningful part of the job was interacting with regular customers and learning how to provide good service even when things were hectic. Over time, I became more confident speaking with people, handling mistakes, and solving small problems on the spot.
